We are greatly looking forward to welcoming all our members and visitors to our 2021 Programme of events, starting on the 23rd of June with a Ploughman’s Lunch Party in President Daphne Johnston’s beautiful garden. After the difficult past year it will be a pleasure to socialise and see beautiful flower creations again.
Growing fruit, vegetables and flowers has played an important role to many during lockdown and it was in a similar context that Lymington Flower Club was formed, holding its first meeting on 6th October 1952. After the dark years of war and restrictions of rationing, the great success of the1951 Festival of Britain with its innovations, fun, colour and beauty showed that better times lay ahead. It was in this atmosphere and using the flowers from their gardens that the Club began. As the oldest Flower Club in this area it has thrived, keeping
up with new trends, and will celebrate its 70th Anniversary in 2022. We meet at 2pm on the first Monday of the month at Lymington Community Centre with a programme of demonstrations by NAFAS accredited Demonstrators, workshops, competitions, and social events. We regularly take part in the New Forest Show, Flower Festivals at St. Thomas Church, Lymington and Winchester Cathedral, plus other special occasions. No experience is required, we offer friendship through flowers and a chance to learn a new hobby.
