Milford on Sea Bowls Club has been a prominent feature of the village since 1933. Located on the seafront, the green boasts one of the finest vistas on the South Coast with stunning views of Christchurch Bay, the Isle of Wight and The Needles. Such is the draw of the location that we attract members from New Milton, Barton and Lymington areas in addition to Milford and Everton.
We compete in both the New Forest and Bournemouth and District Ladies’ and Men’s Leagues and are members of the Hampshire County Bowling Association. We also host “friendly” matches with clubs from further afield. In addition, we have club matches, providing both a social and friendly competitive atmosphere for our members.
The green, which is maintained by volunteer members supported by a professional visiting green keeper, is widely regarded as exceptional. In pursuit of maintaining the highest standards, the hard and soft edgings have been replaced and refurbished during the 20/21 closed season, along with resurfacing of the perimeter pathway.
We have a team of accredited coaches, always ready and willing to provide support, whether to a new rookie bowler or to perfect the skills of an experienced league player. These facilities are provided free of charge to members.
The outdoor season typically runs from April until the end of September each year. We also have an indoor short mat facility available to members in the Autumn and Winter. Regular Club Social events are held throughout the year, both outdoors and in the pavilion building when permitted.
Like many other Sports and Social Clubs 2020 /21 has been a challenging period. Thankfully we were able to run Covid-compliant member-only sessions on the outdoor rinks over the Summer, but the indoor short mat season was thwarted…
2021 will hopefully see a new beginning, with a full complement of activity outdoors and indoors. Members, both old and new, will be able to take advantage of the upgraded facilities and we hope to welcome competing teams as soon as the rules allow.
